Ramkrishna Vedanta Ashram & Mission
Sri Ramkrishna Dev
According to Hindu religious heritage, God incarnates himself as Avatára in every Age (there are four ages, namely, Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara/Dwapara Yuga and Kali Yuga) to give a new message to humanity suited to the needs of that Age. During the period of Ramakrishna Movement, Sri Ramakrishna is venerated as the Avatára of the Modern Age (Kali Yuga) which signifies that his life and teachings have opened a new avenue of salvation for mankind. The excellence of Sri Ramakrishna’s Avatárhood is that, it not only embodies the spiritual consciousness of earlier Avatáras and prophets, including those who are beyond the Hindu purview but also is in absolute harmony with all religious beliefs. In all the institutions of the Ramakrishna Order, worshipful reverence is shown to all Avatáras and the founders of all religions.
Swami Vivekananda
Swami Vivekananda, a spiritual genius, eloquent speaker, a forerunner of universalism and harmony, a mesmerizing personality,
yet an epitome of innocence and simplicity was born on 12th of January, 1863 in the city of Calcutta. His magnanimity lies in his unmatched concern for humanity,
which was an indwelling trait of his, fervid further by the noble teachings of his Master, Sri Ramakrishna.
He was literally a personification of his saying “Service to Man Is Service to God”.
The fireball from Sri Ramakrishna’s Dakshineswar that exploded in the global dais was an assimilation of astounding combinations;
cent percent human being yet cent percent God. The term God is not significant here in conventional way.
The Swami is referred as God for his infinitude and munificence. At times he is perceived, while unintelligible sometimes.
Vivekananda’s gifted oratory, super intellect, and profound knowledge, captivated the distinguished attendees at the first Parliament of the World’s
Religions held at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1893 where he represented Hinduism.
He emerged as the key figure in the convocation, and was subsequently invited to speak all over America and Europe.
It was his eternal broad human sympathy that had urged him to visit America, with the purpose of ushering in India the rationalism of science and logic,
and reciprocating the Western world with the interpretation of India’s spiritual culture especially in the philosophy of Vedanta. A lover of mankind,
he endeavored to promote peace and universal brotherhood on the spiritual foundation of Oneness of existence, the very essence of Vedanta philosophy.
He was a world spokesperson for Vedanta.
